Urgent Vacancy Announcement at U.S. Consulate in Lagos
The U.S. Consulate in Lagos is seeking to employ a suitable and qualified candidate for the position of Telephone Operator in the Information Program Center.
CLOSING DATE FOR THIS POSITION: JUNE 29, 2016
SALARY: N249,999 per month (Starting basic salary) Position Grade: FSN-04
In addition to the basic salary, all allowances will be paid in accordance with the Mission Local Compensation Plan.
BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
The incumbent serves as Telephone/Switchboard Operator. S/he operates Nortel Communication Server 1000E multiple console switchboard (CS 1000E). S/he receives and redirects local, long-distance and international calls. Provides authorized information to callers. Additionally, s/he will also cross train in mail room operations.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Completion of Secondary school is required.
2. Minimum of two (2) years work experience in telephone switchboard operation is required.
3. Level III (Good working knowledge) Speaking /Reading/Writing in English is required. Language proficiency will be tested.
4. Good knowledge of Nigeria postal rules and post organization is required.
. Ability to work and deal effectively with others, both on the phone and in person is required.
6. Must be able to lift 40 pounds weight easily
